So this is it my November 2014 Glossybox is my final one more Glossydots left, not buying another. I’ve not had the best time with by glossies for the last year almost. I made the decision to leave a few months ago… You can read the ongoing stories and disappointments about GB in my beauty box reviews here…
I’ll start by saying I feel kind of meh about this box, the same as last months, In a way I am kind of glad as it means that I don’t feel compulsed to resubscribe, only to be let down later.
Lollipops Make Up Eyepencil – 14 Euros (Full Size) (Approx £11)
A quick swatch on my hand suggests that this the pigmentation isn’t fantastic, I really had to go over the line several times to get a decent deep black line. I’m sure I will use this up, but not particularly excited from what I’ve tried so far. I do like that it’s a screw up rather than a pencil, and I was pleased to see that it was black rather than a weird colour (received an orange eyeliner from GB in the past…)
Burt’s Bees Lip Shine £6.99 (Full Size)
I’m not a big fan of lip glosses, so bit disappointed by this, It’s quite a pale barbie pink, not really a shade that suits me, a naturally olive toned, dark haired, and not overtly girly. I don’t know if this is the kind of colour everyone received, but GB always seems to lean towards to this kind of on brand pink – annoying for me as the colour isn’t really suited to me.
Monu Capri Facial Treatment Oil 30ml (Sample Worth £7.80)
Not a massive fan of facial oils to date, so don’t have high hopes for this, although will give it a go. It smells very citrusy and spa like. Designed to balance oily skin and decongest pores, a problem I have been suffering with of late, so I am interested to try.
The box equals quite a decent value this month, however – I’m still not impressed by the products, or really all that intrigued by them.
H20+ Facial Oasis Hydrating Treatment 8ml (Sample Worth £4.80)
Described as ‘an oil free deep hydration while minimising the appearance of fine lines’, I find it hard to think you will see much result of this with a tiny 8ml sample. Can be used as mask if left in the fridge to refresh the skin.
OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo 88.7ml (Sample worth 69p)
I’ve always seen these but never bought the bullet and tried, This smells amazing, and I can’t wait to give it ago, but for a value of 69p, and the only thing I am excited about in the box… I’m disappointed.
There was also a voucher for Best Secret for £20 off a purchase of £60, not a bad deal, but I imagine GB get a commission from the sale. I’d never heard of them before – but if you’re familiar with Cocosa, Secret Sales or Achica – you’ll get the kind of concept this is, pinned as an exclusive membership by recommendation only, I can’t recommend anyone until I have placed an order… Which seems crazy to me, if I saw something a friend would love, I can’t recommend the site to them! A quick scan of the site suggests that there is nothing which I am currently interested in, but I can’t help but scour sites like this, so I’ll be holding on to my £20 voucher, just in case I see something in future.
I’m not counting the Best Secret Voucher in the value of the box – as it’s clearly promotional – but the box value is worth £30.88
The only beauty box I am now subscribed to is the My Little Boxes (reviews here) – which I love, and would 100% recommend, especially if you like something a little bit different, and until something new comes along I think that’s all I will be sticking too.
I said in my Goodbye Glossybox post, that I am kind of disappointed to be unsubbing, I haven’t missed a box since they started in 2011 and an era has come to an end. Their customer service of late has been crappy when I have had a question, which to me smells of trouble – as what was once great and varied boxes with great customer service is now the opposite in my experience. Now I don’t look forward to receiving them each month it was time to say ta-ta, and find something new!
